At The Shepherd & Dog we want every visit to be enjoyable for all our guests. Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with our policies below.

Booking Policy

  • Reservations can be made by calling us on 01268 521 967 during opening hours.
  • For parties of over 10 guests please contact us directly to discuss your requirements.
  • A deposit may be required to secure your booking for larger groups or special occasions.
  • All deposits are strictly non-refundable.
  • A £10 per person no-show fee will be charged to the card used to secure your booking if you fail to attend without prior notice. Please give us as much notice as possible if you need to cancel.
  • We will always do our best to accommodate dietary requirements and allergies — please inform us at the time of booking so we can make the necessary arrangements.
  • We categorically do not allow confetti of any kind anywhere on the premises.
  • Birthday cakes are welcome however a £2.50 cakeage fee per person applies for the cutting and serving of external cakes.
  • We reserve the right to refuse service to any guest who is intoxicated or behaving in a manner that affects the enjoyment of other guests.

Garden & Restaurant Policy

  • Our garden and restaurant are over 21s only on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings unless accompanied by family.
  • Children are welcome in the public bar until 8pm.
  • Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times whilst on the premises.
  • The children’s play area closes at 8pm every day.
  • Dogs are warmly welcome in our Garden, Marquee and Public Bar but must be kept on a lead at all times. Dogs are not permitted in the restaurant area.
  • Garden tables operate on a first-come first-served basis and cannot be reserved.
  • Footballs and ball games are not permitted in the garden area out of respect for other guests.
  • Smoking and vaping is permitted in designated outdoor areas only.

Loyalty Card Terms & Conditions

  • The Shepherd & Dog loyalty card entitles the holder to 25% discount off food once the card is fully stamped.
  • Discount applies to food only and is not valid on drinks, set menus or special event menus.
  • Valid for tables of up to 4 guests only.
  • Only one loyalty card voucher may be redeemed per table per visit.
  • The card must be physically present at the time of redemption — we are unable to apply the discount retrospectively.
  • Loyalty cards have no cash value and are non-transferable.
  • The Shepherd & Dog reserves the right to withdraw or amend the loyalty scheme at any time.

Private Events & Marquee Hire Policy

  • All private event bookings require a deposit to secure the date.
  • All deposits are strictly non-refundable.
  • We do not host 18th or 21st birthday celebrations.
  • Confetti of any kind is strictly prohibited anywhere on the premises including the marquee.
  • The client is responsible for any damage caused to the venue or its contents during their event.
  • All guests attending private events must be over 18 unless prior arrangement has been made.
  • The Shepherd & Dog reserves the right to refuse or terminate any booking that breaches our policies.

Privacy Policy

  • The Shepherd & Dog collects personal information (such as name, email address and phone number) only when voluntarily provided through our website contact forms.
  • Your information will only be used to respond to your enquiry and will never be shared with or sold to third parties.
  • Our website may use cookies to improve your browsing experience.
